Our Nyah has found her sporting niche. BTW Nyah is the youngest of the team.
Is this the start of an exciting sporting career.
Twelve junior Geelong female basketball players have been selected to participate in the inaugural “Next Wave” program run by Supercats SEABL women’s head coach, Paul O’Brien.
The program is the first of its kind for girls in Geelong, targeting up and coming talented female basketball players and giving them the opportunity to train with and learn from elite level coaches.
Similar to the Aspiring Supercats Program, the male based training and development program run by Jamie O’Loughlin in Geelong for the past three years, the Next Wave program nominates and selects talented female athletes. The age group that the Next Wave Program is aimed at is slightly lower than the ASP, with Under 14 and under 16 girls being targeted in the inaugural selection process.
The Next Wave sessions will place a heavy focus on strength, fitness and conditioning, with SEABL Supercats women fitness coach Chelsey Cameron assisting Paul O’Brien with the program outline. One of the biggest strengths of the SEABL women’s team over the last two years has been their fast style of play, incorporating a lot of fitness training into their schedule.
The program begins this Sunday 3rd December and will run for three weeks before Christmas. In 2013, the participants will attend one hour and a half session over five weeks in Term 1 and the same over ten weeks in Term 2.
Congratulations to the players who have been selected to participate in the inaugural Next Wave program, and we look forward to watching your progress and development over the next six months and beyond!

Yep, finally at the last minute the sale of the house is now unconditional. It was previously but was withdrawn (solicitor error !)
We are renting our home for another 2 weeks after the payment day. December 7th. This will facilitate a smooth move.
The packing will now proceed in earnest.
The stress involved is amazing. Glad it is over.
Really looking forward to the move into town.
It is over. Tree completed the 6Km run in under an hour.
More importantly Tree raised over $1000 for SIDS research. What a brilliant effort.
Running along as well was hubby Chris. All that training pays off.
WELL DONE TREE. ![]()
The property has passed the building and pest inspection last Wednesday. Now the weekend. As we have heard nothing we assume that the sale is “on”.
At the moment there is three weeks until the move.
I have begun packing the workshop and garden shed. After some 20 odd years there is a lot of stuff. Kaye has started the flat, then the house.
Glad there is three weeks. Plenty of time to pack, but, I suspect it will go quickly.
Christmas with the family in our new home.
16/11/2012 1.3km in 29 minutes – wet suit on ~ 1Km 22.5 minutes Did I lose a lap?
13/11/2012 1.3Km in 31 minutes ~ 1Km 24 minutes
Tree is running in the Rivers Gift in aid of SIDS. A 6K run, on the 18th November 2012.
Go to RiversGift or Tree’s site, have a look, and help the research.
Go Girl!!
A quote from Tree a.k.a. mum
“Great pre-season basketball tournament for Nyah. Fitting into her new team effortlessly. So proud of my little basketball star. She was the top scorer for their first game which they won easily. They lost their second game by 5pts, then followed up with two exciting (and close) wins!!! Well done Supercats U14 1 girls”
The oldies are proud of you Nyah
We have signed the contracts and paid our deposit for our new house. The people whom we are buying from have signed and paid a deposit. That was last Thursday.
We are waiting for our buyer to sign and pay a deposit. Today is Monday. It is all a bit slow. Hope this does not go down due to a change of mind at the last moment.
We will see.
At training this morning, went for the P2P distance. Started with some warm-up’s (700meters), not too fast.
Then a 1.3Km with a ~150meter foot sprint to finish off.
100meter warm down
2.1Km for the day
1.3Km in 31 minutes. Sprint 32 seconds. That is about 24 minutes for 1Km
Happy with that ![]()
